New Design Updates – August, 2007
23GHz PLL Stability Rebuild for 23CC, 23VFM, 23DR, 23VX Radios

A new second revision for the 23Ghz Stability Rebuild is now ready and will be used in all further orders.

The improvements include the ability to retune to a new frequency much further away from the original frequency of the radio. Previously retuning beyond about 100 Mhz required additional added cost modification, regardless of any filters used in the equipment.

Additionally, the new circuit will allow customer field retuning to a new frequency with the full .001% stability, using a fairly straightforward procedure that follows closely to the original equipment manual procedure for realignment.
Previously, the frequency setting has been a factory-only procedure
Please note that we will continue to align the radios to the customer-specified channel at the time of order; but now any future frequency changes may be made in the field.

Most of the simplex radios do not have front end filtering and thus may be retuned over a wide range that may extend up to one-half of the total 23GHz band, or a 1200Mhz range.

Duplex radios will have filters that are typically 600Mhz wide, and these radios may be retuned across up to a 500Mhz range, allowing for modulation bandwidth to stay properly within the filter passband.
There may be some 23Ghz M/A equipment that has special narrowband filters; if you can remain on your original frequency then this would not present a problem.
